Earth, Wind, Fire and Water

Recently the RTA opened the Green Line Metro in Dubai. An interesting fact about the RTA Metros all over Dubai is that they are based on themes. The themes are Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. There are also 2 metros that have the Heritage theme to it. There are plans in the making to create a metro system linking all 7 Emirates together.
This is planned to be done by 2014. Therefore we expect to see many new lines being gradually added over the course of the next few years. The economic crisis has of course halted the pace at which the metro project was going; however,things will pick up soon as the numbers are

reflecting that over 5 million people use the metro every month.
Death rates by accident and on the roads have drastically been reduced ever since the metro has started to operate. And the income from metro stations as well as toll gates help the RTA self finance these great projects to help evolve public transportation in the emirates into a progressive and dynamic system that serves the welfare of residents and visitors.
