It took me 20 hours to get to Las Vegas Nevada for IMEX 2011. This year’s IMEX America was the first for Las Vegas. About 8,000 people from 140 countries attended the show for the three day conference on events, meetings and incentive travel.
The show started on Tuesday 11th of October 2011. Walking through The Venetian Hotel where the exhibition was located was tough. Basically to get to the exhibition you had to walk through the casino and in las Vegas casino’s are not your average casino’s . The size of most casino’s in Las Vegas are as big as a football field.
Alpha Tours was located on the Dubai stand. We had some of our competitors exhibiting and the hoteliers.
Since the exhibition was in America the main focus was that region. The Dubai Stand as a whole was nicely designed with pictures of Dubai’s main icons.

We had lots of interest from buyers and exhibitors coming to ask questions about the 2 icons they know best Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab..
I met with a few buyers who were interested in bringing groups to Dubai . Surprisingly they were mainly educational groups. I will be sending them different programs that our MICE Department have worked on and hopefully more business will be flowing in from our MICE department.
Last but not least yes I did gamble. Anyone who goes there and tells you he didn’t gamble somehow or another is lying. Obviously you rarely come out of Vegas a winner so yes I did lose money.
