The beauty of the northern emirates
Sharjah, 30 minutes from Dubai, has one of the deepest harbours in the world. Sharjah is known as the UAE’s cultural capital. Mosques and museums of elegant architectural renown dot the entire emirate while the wildlife centre is home to the once endangered Arabian Leopard. The Blue Souq is a hot favourite for incredible bargains. King Faisal Mosque, the Cultural Roundabout and the ‘Federation of the Emirates’ monument are excellent locations for photo sessions.
Just a short drive northeast of Sharjah is Ajman - a small emirate with a lovely 16 kilometre stretch of white sandy beach. Masfut - the little agricultural mountain village, the historic fort and museum, and the natural harbour and port form the highlights of the tour.
Further north is the green and fertile Ras Al Khaimah, surrounded by lofty mountains. This northernmost Emirate has a 64 km long coastline and is famous for its natural springs and valleys. The tour points are the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum, Port Saqa and Al Nakheel.
